
Larry Waldridge

A lifelong resident of Cecil County, Maryland, Lawrence Waldridge is a respected leader, decorated officer, and lifelong Republican with a nearly four-decade career dedicated to public safety and community service. Raised in North East and a graduate of North East High School, he now resides in Elkton with his wife, Rebecca.
Waldridge’s distinguished 39-year law enforcement career began with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer. He later transitioned to the Elkton Police Department (EPD), where he served for 37 years, retiring as a Lieutenant and becoming the longest-serving sworn member in the department's history.

He was instrumental in guiding the department's growth through decades of technological advancements, police reform, evolving policing trends, and community engagement. His wide-ranging responsibilities included recruitment and retention, community relations, professional standards, budget planning, and major project management. He also served as Interim Chief of Police.​

Continued Service to the Community

Following his retirement from the Elkton Police Department, Waldridge returned to the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, where he currently serves as the Training Coordinator for the Law Enforcement Division, mentoring the next generation of officers. Outside of his official duties, he is deeply committed to giving back, volunteering annually at the Cecil County Fair, coaching youth sports, and teaching four youth martial arts classes at the Cecil County YMCA. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Order of Isshin-Ryu Martial Arts Organization.
